SUMMER 2007
WHAT A SUMMER!! We've had adoption after adoption. Some of our recent adoptees are Howie and Betty Boop, who moved to DeFuniak Springs,Fl., Chipper, who moved to Dothan,AL., and Daisy, who moved to Panama City, Fl.
While all of these adoptions are more than we could have wished for, and we must say "THANKS" to 1-800 Adopt-a-Pet.com for all of them, our arrivals have increased as well. Just recently we have received Honey, a lovely older cocker spaniel who has lived thru more than you could imagine, Roxie, a pit bull mix puppy who was an owner surrender, and 6 abandoned chow/bird dog mix puppies! This summer has not been very high on donations. We've received a standard $25 dollar adoption fee donation with the adoptions, but beyond that, our donations have been limited to under $100. We are grateful for every penny we receive, as it allows us to continue our work. We're at a really low point right now ... our food bill alone runs at least $500 a month. Right now we're going into the time of year we start yearly shots, and restock our standard worming supplies. The price of that without tax is around $300. While $300 doesn't sound like much for a year, with the monthly bills between electric, water and feed running around $800-$1000, we're running way in the red. We're not looking for huge donations, or monthly pledges, although either would be gratefully accepted and acknowledged (we use Amazon Honor System, and accept Paypal for all donations, one time or continuing), we are truly asking you to donate ANY you can afford, not for us, but for Lowboy, Blackie, Kortney, Honey, and all the others ...even if you can only afford $5, if everyone could afford that we'd be at least well on our way to having the yearly shots and worming bill paid. Please, at least think about it, and perhaps ask a friend to think about it too. Always remember, if you know someone who is looking for a dog, or cat, tell them to check ours out, and if you run across an abandoned animal, or neglected one, let us know ... if there is any way we can help, we will. You can email us direct HERE. Thanks to all for a wonderfully successful adoption rate this summer, and let's look to doubling it this fall!
